25th April 2008

Hi Dave,

After 5 years of getting comprehensively out fished by my croweater mates, it was time for me to either learn to fish or get some type of product that would give me an unfair advantage.

Whilst looking for other things on e-bay I came across the HOTSHOTZ FLASHBUGZ. After reading the promo on them I decided that it couldn't hurt (only my pocket because I struggle to tie a good knot). I put an order in four 4 of the size 5/0 in the Pilly design.

On the Anzac Day weekend it was off to Salt Creek in the Coorong SA for our annual trip. Once we got there we set up camp and started setting up our rods for a night fish.

The other guys were using a standard paternoster rig with 2 leaders and a full Pilly on a set of 5/0 gang hooks. I tied on my HOTSHOTZ rig and looked up to see 5 faces looking at me as if I was a madman.

Then the comments came good and fast as to how I wouldn't catch anything, I was a fool for believing an ad, and so on.

I then got a lesson on how mulloway need the freshest of baits, which they mouth their bait before biting, and that lures simply do not work on them.

Well let’s cut a long story short, in total 6 fishermen caught 28 mulloway ranging from 30cm to 69cm. The traditional 5 rigs using ganged hooks and pilchards caught 14 mulloway with the biggest being 63cm. The HOTSHOTZ rig claimed the other 14 victims with the biggest being 69cm and the smallest being 46cm.

I sweetened each hook with a 25mm x 25mm piece of mackerel

All 14 times the rig was hit with savage bites resulting in most of the fish being clean hooked through the bottom jaw. 3 fish could not be released because they hit the hook so hard they were bleeding from the gills.

All the other guys are now going to put in orders for HOTSHOTZ.

Looks like this is the way to go.

Attached are some pictures if you wish to use them on your site.
Cheers,

Ren

G'day Dave

Read your web page and like your attitude.

I have just received some hooks from you, quick and friendly, thank you very much for your excellent service. I have attached a photo or two for your photo gallery, something that's not a snapper!

A ripper tailor from Merimbula Lake.

A 50 something kilo Yellowfin tagged & released from Merimbula.

Dave, I took Lochie out this Morning for the first time in 8 weeks, we had a really nice morning off Mt Martha in 20mtrs.

Lochie was very keen to rig up the Supa Terroriza Snapper Snatchers that you gave him as a gift, I also used the same, and after 3 hour on the water, we came home with 5 fish, 4 Lochies, while two mates on the Boat with us went home very frustrated, without a fish using just traditional Bait...

We used the same Baits below our Snatchers!!

Goes to show how well they work!!

Jeremy and Frenchy will be contacting you shortly for some of those Beasts!!

2 big fish were 3.5kg, and the others, just on 2kg....

Thanks Mate, Lochie had a great Morning!!

Regards, Chris.

Christophers 7kg West Australian Jewfish

Hi Dave, I picked up a 7kg West Australian Jewfish in 10 metres of water and about 800 metres offshore on Monday.

I was fishing for Silver Trevally (Skippy) on light gear when the heavy hand line started to unwind, baited with half a Herring with one of your 5/0 Circle hooks and one of the kick butt 200lb ball bearing swivels.

Not exactly sports fishing with the 80lb hand line but heaps of fun in the shallows.

They are great tucker and it will provide plenty for my family.

Thanks again for the great gear.
Christopher

Hi David,

Thank you. I have attached the pics of some fish caught using your Gummy Shark / Snapper rig in Exmouth W.A.

First rig lasted 4 x Norwest Snapper using strips of Spanish Flag.

These 2 Macs destroyed the next rig 1 x Spaniard and 1x School Mac drifting chunks of pilchard in a fast current.

Regards,
Christopher

Been out a couple of times with the new boat first trip boated 4, lost 4 and second trip boated 4 and got spooled once.

Not great but on the days we did better than most. Nothing big as yet, but all between 15 and 20kg.

Pics of my father in-law & I with tuna caught using your hooks.

At least I know I wont need to change the hook on the lures every trip out there they are still sharp as the day I crimped them on.

Hi Dave,

Here is a pic of a couple of 6.2kg yellowtail caught on your snapper rigs.

As I said 1 rig caught around 20 fish and I still have the rig on the rod ready to go again. Now that’s confidence in the quality of the rig most people would have retired rigs after that sort of session.

Dave

Have brought rigs off ebay that you listed.

While I'm at it don't you think I was rapped when I caught this little beauty on your rig.

Perhaps you need to rename them to "JEWIE" rigs also

Cheers
Peter

Hi Pete, that is fantastic, AWESOME fish, It’s bigger than you !!! This is the second Jewie caught on my rigs, if I throw in a few freebies can I have your permission to list this on eBay and throw in your comments? Please advise…. Once again, that’s why we go fishing….. I have never caught a Jewie as yet, however I am going to give it a crack when the snapper slow down. What did this monster weigh?? As you are aware I have built a website and I am still wait on my provider to sort their issues out, when it is up and running, can I list this in the gallery?

Cheers and regards Dave.

No issues mate the pleasure is mine.

The little buggar weighed 15kg caught on a garfish.

Mate I tell you you are right these rigs are great - from lives to dead bait the rigs work great.

Iv'e caught bream , flathead , kings & jewies all on the same rig, that why I'm buying more of these as this is the major rig I now use when fishing.

PR

G’day Dave,

You asked for some feedback on your new style rigs, as they say, “a picture is worth a thousand words “.
The Pinks went 6 and 8 kgs, the West Aust. Dhufish went 23 kgs and pushed the rigs, rod, reel and my body to the limit. A very good weekends fishing.

If you are interested, I caught these fish north of Mindarie Keys in about 30 meters of water using a Shimano T-curve 400 Jig stick matched to a Shimano Calcutta 400CTE spooled with 30 lb Fins Braid - but most importantly, a new style Rigman’s rig with the 4/0 and 6/0 hook setup.

I haven’t spent $8.50 this well in a long time. I used the 1 rig all day and although it looks a little worse for wear, and will probably be retired, it worked an absolute treat.

Thanks for the quality rigs, I wish you all the best in your venture.

Cheers Glen

I really appreciate the time to get back to me, and to send me the photo's, well what can I say.

Hopefully these fish are now swimming in our direction for the October snapper season........ Once again, thanks for the feedback.

Cheers and regards Dave.

G’day Dave,

Glad you liked the pic’s, feel free to use them and my comments as you wish to promote your great rigs.

Landing the big Dhue’s is more of a tug of war, than angling prowess – short slow runs, lots of lift and wind. This is where well-made rigs with quality sharp hooks and strong swivels make all the difference. The 6/0 hook was neatly stuck in the corner of his jaw, it did look tiny in his cavernous mouth, but held up well. They put up a fight like hooking up to a Cray pot, big, heavy and sluggish.

The Pinks are more of an angling experience on 30 lb line, putting in long fast runs and hitting the bait with attitude. As I use braid on all of my reels and don’t use a shock leader, quality rigs make all the difference - in the initial hit, the braid gives no stretch, putting all the impact on the rig and knots. It’s always a bit hit and miss with my knots and snells, so it was a real pleasure to use yours, confident that they would hold up. I probably couldn’t make them for the price you sell them for, anyway.

The above pics are the days catch of Pinks and one my mates prize Pink caught that day. Feel free to use them if you like

Cheers Glen
